Over the years, I have learned to treat Tango as something I do with much passion and gusto. Of course, at first you start learning the ropes. Awkwardly, you take in the steps as you learn to move with the music.
Over time, you become less conscious of the techniques and your emotions kick in- it becomes SECOND NATURE, A MUSCLE MEMORY. While your movement is focused and mindful, you let the music take precedence. It becomes less of a lesson and more of a meditative experience. The feeling is inexplicably AWESOME!!
If food nourishes the body, then I can safely say that Tango is food for the soul. In the book that I’m reading about Integrative Nutrition, it says that we are not only nourished by food. Self expression, physical connection, and a strong sense of belonging are soulful nourishments that truly feed us.
Tango provides us a comfortable and welcoming way to express ourselves and connect. The social culture behind Tango where you can dance freely blurs social inhibitions regardless of your status, whether you are single or taken. The music, the steps, the clothes and the shoes are tasteful Tango ingredients that make up for a delightful buffet for the senses.
Think of Tango as a comfort food. Satisfying on many levels that experiencing it yourself is a must! So make sure you get your recommended dose of Tango.
Oh, by the way... Tango Tuesdays!
