Stress is a staple in our everyday lives, whether big or small, dealing with it is quite a chore. But fortunately, we can all do something about it. Here's my list of effective stress busters based on my firsthand experience. I guarantee that they are effective! :)
1. MEDITATE TO START THE DAY
In my case, meditation also means saying a prayer of gratitude and expressing my heart's wishes. It prepares you for the events ahead by already laying out in your mind how great this day would be. It helps me think of creative solutions to problems. It also gives me the power to ward off negativities and helps me focus on achieving my plans and tasks for the day.
2. START THE DAY SMILING
Happy thoughts and a thankful heart makes me happy throughout the day. Remember that a smile can change any situation, including the more challenging ones.
3. KEEP CALM AND BE ENERGETIC
Keeping my energy high but maintaining a calm disposition always works. Try not to rush and multitask. Work through each task with a calm focus.
4. TAKE IT EASY AND PAY IT FORWARD
One hurried and hectic day, my mind was filled with what ifs and worries, a colleague of mine greeted me with a sincere "Take it easy today, Ann." And that gesture helped me realize to take a breather and not worry too much. Since then I regularly remind myself to take it easy everyday and be kind and nice enough to pay it forward by smiling at colleagues I bump in the building or saying compliments and greetings that are truly heartfelt.
No matter how tasking each day is and even when it seems I still have a lot left undone for the day, I stop and mingle with friends and guests at The Playground. I may not be able to workout with them everyday but simply exchanging a little chat and some laughs with them makes everything feel lighter and easier. It's like a reset at the end of the day.
See, stress cannot be avoided totally but it's up to us if we'll be stressed or blessed... choose the latter and feel much better!
